January - New Me or Same Me?
So after a year of blogging and reading so many other great bloggers out there, 2018 is going to be a little different. As well as the same mixture of subject blogs around Mental Health, Project Delivery and Creative Writing, I’m going to give you lucky peeps a view of the world through my eyes with some more intimate blogging posts each month. Let’s see how that develops over time...
So January is usually the month of fresh starts and new beginnings. I had an amazing 2017 including my wedding, the first graduation and changing my career but I have started this year wondering which path I should take; new me or same me?
If I take the "new me" path, there are loads of opportunities ready to be taken and the difficulty will be deciding what the new “me” should look like (apart from the dashing goatee of which my wife is surprisingly a huge fan). Given the strides I made last year, do I need to make wholesale changes at all...
If I take the "old me" path, I need to consider if I am 100% happy with my life. Recent events at home have reminded me about how short life can be and the importance of making the most of every day we are given. Is it negligent of me to waste opportunities to fulfill the potential of such a short lifespan? The most important question though is whether I am happy with the person I am today and personally, the answer is a "Yes" (for the most part).
I think a bit of both is in order so here are some resolutions of what I plan to do or keep doing this year:
Finally finish the third instalment of ‘abducted’ to mark the tenth anniversary of the release of the first instalment;
Find a new “forever” home with my wife to start building the foundations for the rest of our lives together;
Continue supporting good causes and movements that are close to my heart;
Make more time for family and friends than I was able to last year;
Enjoy more of life by adding more variety, trying new things and revisiting old opportunities that made me happy in the past (hopefully that includes a bit more football time).
So here's to the twelve months ahead of us. I hope you enjoy the blogging and if there are any ideas you have for blogs you would like to see me produce, please drop me a line and I would be delighted to hear from you.
