tackling poverty

Earlier help
better outcomes
less poverty
I have had the privilege of growing up in Swansea, South Wales where I work for the Local Authority as the Principle Officer for Tackling Poverty. This special role provides the opportunity to help all of the people and communities of Swansea who have been impacted by poverty, especially during the ongoing Cost of Living Crisis.
We can make a huge difference in people's lives if we focus on three key priorities:
Earlier Help - I believe that prevention is a key strategy when trying to tackle poverty and if we can take action early, we can avoid the need for people to fall into poverty. We should focus on developing and delivering interventions that help people avoid reaching a crisis point in the future.
Better Outcomes - I believe that person-centred, strengths-based approaches to helping people will increase our chances of achieving better results and personal objectives. We should co-produce our services and projects to focus on meeting the needs of people experiencing poverty.
Less Poverty - I believe that if we listen to people with lived experience of poverty, we have a greater chance of developing the policies, services and initiatives that can alleviate poverty in our communities. We should follow the principles below as we work in partnership with our communities and supporters to achieve an overall reduction in the presentations and impacts of poverty.
