My Story

My life has been full of various challenges and opportunities. Like most people, I have experienced both good times and bad ones. Altogether, these experiences create a blend of different stories I can share with the world. this website and my various endeavors, I attempt to share a little bit of myself, hoping it might do some good.

But why me? I am not so special, really. I am pretty average in many ways: the son of migrant, born into a working-class family in a small corner of South Wales. I a good family upbringing, worked hard in school, and was a bit of a nerd. Nothing special, right?

When I turned 14, things started to change, and depression crept into my life a shadow with a mind of its own. I began to suffer from self-loathing, lost all confidence, and became anxious about pretty much everything in my life. This led to two brushes with suicide on either side of my 18th birthday and a mental breakdown that finally alerted my family that something was wrong.

What followed was a long journey of recovery, spending many hours in counselling, trying anti-depressants, and constantly living on the edge of dark thoughts. My aspirations in life were derailed, I lost contact with friends, and became a recluse. Throwing my energy into a job I hated, this journey was full of setbacks and challenges, but in the end, I discovered how to live with myself and the bully in the shadows that stalked me.

In 2015, I began volunteering with a mental health campaign and sharing my experiences. This was the catalyst for a huge change in my life, as I discovered how to my suffering into an opportunity to help others. I changed career paths, seeking a role that would provide me with fulfillment. I started public speaking in various settings and branched into blogging, rekindling my passion for creative writing, and I have now published a number novels.

Now, I have found the confidence and resilience turn my life challenges into opportunities for others to learn from my experiences. From my struggles with fertility issues to dealing with grief, from the work I do supporting people experiencing poverty to the adoption journey that led me to my son—if anything I have gone through can make a difference in someone else's life, I am privileged to share my story and help anyone.
